WHAT’S GREEN IN BIRMINGHAM?

Climate change (or climate chaos as some people call it) is a reality which will increasingly dominate the 21st century. As citizens of Britain’s second city, we can help create a city to be proud of, leading the way in reducing global warming to help save the planet for future generations.

If you’re looking for green products and services, green spaces, green initiatives and groups in Birmingham UK, start here. With your help, we can help everyone cut the carbon by pooling our knowledge on all the different initiatives in the city to cut CO2 and other greenhouse gases – and other forms of pollution.

GREENING BRUM:

If you are doing anything to help create a sustainable economy in the city, to preserve biodiversity, or to increase awareness of ecological issues, we want to know about it.

Greenwash

Your comments on our website can help people decide how genuinely useful sellers green claims are…
GreeninBrum aims to be “broad church”, encompassing many different approaches to environmental sustainability and slowing down global warming. We are keen to publicise green products available in the city, even when some would prefer a no-cost DIY solution, because we believe that “shopping green” is just the approach many people need.

We also recognise that some companies will leap on the green bandwagon with no intention of contributing to reducing global warming – and that some very well-intentioned companies get it wrong. We don’t want to slop “greenwash”  (a facade of respectability) on stuff which is actually damaging the planet.

Every “green purchase” involves some degree of compromise, however good the credentials of the company offering it. Rather than censoring certain products on certain criteria, we report anything we can which is not an obvious hoax, but would encourage you to comment on any page either with misgivings or recommendations. Can you tell us

  • if you have personal experience of the product or company?
  • if you know of better alternatives?

Abusive or defamatory comments will not be tolerated.
