Conference on Sustainability, B’ham Uni, 3 Dec
Wednesday, 3rd December 2008, 2 PM – 4.30 PM, Main Building, MB 550
Birmingham’s Inter-University Conference on Sustainability.
‘Twenty years ago, when you went out to the countryside, you could see a large black dome of smog on the horizon – that was Birmingham.’ This is a kind of account you may hear from a senior citizen. Nowadays, however, the situation has changed unrecognisably: Birmingham steps into the 21st century with a totally different face and attitude – and the first ones to promote sustainability are obviously the universities.
The conference focuses on Sustainability Research projects in three major universities in Birmingham – Aston, Birmingham University and Birmingham City University speakers have been invited to talk about their research in the field and recent development in sustainable technologies.
The conference is divided into two parts, according to the issues covered in each part, and if you are not able to attend the entire event, you can attend the part that you are interested in.
As the number of places is limited, please contact Jean Hasson at j (dot) hasson (at) aston (dot) ac (dot) uk to confirm your attendance.

Many places seem to be going through another post-industrial clean-up similar to what took place after the first industrial revolution at turn of the 20th century. I find it funny that many of the problems they faced are the same ones we are facing – extreme pollution, overcrowding, poor conditions, etc.
