Get free and impartial advice from the Energy Saving Trust advice centre, tel 0800 512012, www.energysavingtrust.org.ukThe advice line is for everybody. There are two special-needs groups who may qualify for financial help too.

  • Over 70′s are now regarded by the regulator Ofgem as a priority group irrespective of whether they are on benefits or not. So the energy suppliers are falling over themselves to insulate the houses of home-owners over 70. The insulation schemes can be accessed in a number of ways – either directly through the utilities, through major installers themselves, or the Energy Saving Trust advice centre, tel 0800 512012, www.energysavingtrust.org.uk. IF YOU HAVE ELDERLY RELATIVES OR FRIENDS, WHY NOT LET THEM KNOW, AND OFFER TO MAKE THE CONTACT ON THEIR BEHALF?
  • On benefits and own your own home? Warm Front www.warmfront.co.uk may provide a grant of up to £2700 to get energy saving work done on your house, including in some cases replacing boilers when they are uneconomical to repair. You can refer yourself to Warm Front through the Energy Saving Trust advice centre, tel 0800 512012, as well as through the Warm Front website.
