WHAT’S GREEN IN BIRMINGHAM?

Climate change (or climate chaos as some people call it) is a reality which will increasingly dominate the 21st century. As citizens of Britain’s second city, we can help create a city to be proud of, leading the way in reducing global warming to help save the planet for future generations.

If you’re looking for green products and services, green spaces, green initiatives and groups in Birmingham UK, start here. With your help, we can help everyone cut the carbon by pooling our knowledge on all the different initiatives in the city to cut CO2 and other greenhouse gases – and other forms of pollution.

GREENING BRUM:

If you are doing anything to help create a sustainable economy in the city, to preserve biodiversity, or to increase awareness of ecological issues, we want to know about it.

Schools

There are five schools in Birmingham which have achieved the Eco-Schools Silver Award:

  • Green Meadow Primary School B29
  • Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School B10
  • Norfolk House School Ltd. B15
  • St Benedict’s Infant School B10
  • Waverley School b10

and 29 more have achieved the Bronze Award. Many more have registered on the scheme. There is no Gold Award: the next level is called “First Flag”, achieved by Swanshurst School in 2005.

You can find more information about the Eco-Schools scheme at www.eco-schools.org.uk

Any school in Birmingham is entitled to a free page on the GreeninBrum website to tell the world about what they are doing to go green (irrespective of whether they are part of the Eco-Schools scheme).

We also offer websites and extensions to websites (25% reduction for schools, or 50% if the site is solely about environmental issues in Birmingham).

As part of eco-schools we need to transfer images onto white cotton. I was just wondering if anyone had any new ideas. Eco-friendly ideas would also be excellent.
