If you’re looking for green products and services, green spaces, green initiatives and groups in Birmingham UK, start here. With your help, we can help everyone cut the carbon by pooling our knowledge on all the different initiatives in the city to cut CO2 and other greenhouse gases – and other forms of pollution.

GREENING BRUM:

If you are doing anything to help create a sustainable economy in the city, to preserve biodiversity, or to increase awareness of ecological issues, we want to know about it.

  • Would you like to live in a pioneering eco housing development close to the city centre?
  • Are you interested in starting a green business in supported workshops alongside the housing?
  • Would you like to become part of a co-operative community that is dedicated to sustainable living?
  • And do you have the time, resources and enthusiasmto commit to developing this exciting project working in partnership with LocaliseWest Midlands, Birmingham Friends of the Earth and Accord Housing Association?

If so, go to http://www.localise westmidlands. org.uk/clt

A group of organisations in Birmingham (including Localise West Midlands) are proposing a ‘community land trust’ sustainable housing and workspace development in Digbeth. We’re aiming for the vacant land next to the Birmingham Friends of the Earth Warehouse and housing on offer would be affordable to some degree, as the value of the land and building is ‘locked’ into a trust for social and environmental benefits.

It’s at a very early stage, but we’re seeking people potentially interested in living in this development or using the workspace units, who can start to get fully involved in plans and help us to make it happen.

If you might be interested, click here, browse through the briefings and download a questionnaire to mail back – or you can send us the responses by email if you prefer.
