WHAT’S GREEN IN BIRMINGHAM?

Climate change (or climate chaos as some people call it) is a reality which will increasingly dominate the 21st century. As citizens of Britain’s second city, we can help create a city to be proud of, leading the way in reducing global warming to help save the planet for future generations.

If you’re looking for green products and services, green spaces, green initiatives and groups in Birmingham UK, start here. With your help, we can help everyone cut the carbon by pooling our knowledge on all the different initiatives in the city to cut CO2 and other greenhouse gases – and other forms of pollution.

GREENING BRUM:

If you are doing anything to help create a sustainable economy in the city, to preserve biodiversity, or to increase awareness of ecological issues, we want to know about it.

Be Resourceful is a new project aimed at encouraging waste minimisation. CSV Environment, working in partnership with Brumcan, has been engaged by Birmingham City Council to run a community-level campaign to support and encourage the use of their multi-material recycling collection service.

CSV was established in 1962 to involve people in community service and to promote voluntary and community action through eight main programmes nationwide: CSV Volunteering Partners, CSV Training and Enterprise, CSV Education for Citizenship, CSV’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Programme (RSVP), CSV Employee Volunteering, CSV Environment, CSV Consulting and Corporate Affairs. CSV Environment has worked in Birmingham for nearly twenty years and has successfully involved local communities in improving areas where they live and work and making more people aware of the need to live more sustainably

The Canvassing Assistants by engaging with the local community through direct contact will help to overcome barriers preventing participation and generally encourage residents to participate in the services offered.

We are looking for enthusiastic, articulate and confident individuals, with a good basic “A” level education who are flexible (in terms of working hours and tasks), able to work unsupervised outside in all weather conditions and with a broad understanding and interest in waste management and recycling.
