Treading Lightly Together
Some information from Maud Grainger following the event at the Council House last week, ‘Treading Lightly Together’…
Don’t forget, if you are planning on making changes within your house, community or place of worship, then the Faith & Environment Project are here to support you. We are also monitoring and calculating the changes made by the Faiths of Birmingham so please do let us know what you are doing.
The Following is from Harriet Martin who spoke on Cotteridge Quaker Meeting House and how they transformed their building.

The halogen bulb (GU10 fitting) replacement SMD (surface mounted diode) bulb I had can be found at www.greensteps.co.uk. It produces the equivalent of 35W of light but only takes 2.3W of electricity.
The environment section of the Cotteridge Quaker Meeting website is at www.cotteridge.quaker.eu.org.
Here you can download the sheets I had showing my own house gas and electricity use over 30 years (and the effect of insulation etc on it) as well as a questionnaire that lets you compare the environmental awareness of your congregation etc. with that of the UK as a whole.
If you want to record and study how fast your building heats up, what temperature it reaches, how fast it cools down etc. you can find reasonable priced data loggers at www.tomsgadgets.com
You can get some information dry lining materials at www.british-gypsum.com
If you want a record of past temperatures in your region (can be useful when studying your building’s heating), you can find it at www.weatheronline.co.uk/

“I am using those energy-saving bulbs all over my house now. They cut down on bills and last a lot longer too. The only problem is that they are a lot more expensive than ordinary bulbs.”
I am using those bulbs as well. Does anyone know if you can get energy-saving bulbs for spotlights? At the moment for my spotlights I use halogen bulbs which don’t last very long.
Thanks.
